The 4th Annual East Africa Arbitration Conference (EAIAC) will take place at the Serena Hotel in Kampala on September 8 & 9. The EAIAC Committee, in partnership with I-ARB Africa and GBS Africa (a boutique Advisory focusing on Africa's trade and Investment competitiveness) are delighted to bring you the 4th Edition of the East Africa International Arbitration Conference to Uganda.

With Africa’s steep investment and development trajectory, EAIAC 2016 aims to highlight the importance of international arbitration as an effective dispute resolution mechanism and a tool for promotion of foreign investment on the Continent.

This year’s EAIAC focus will be on Infrastructure and Natural Resources. Uganda is increasingly gaining recognition as a mining and oil & gas powerhouse, and the EAIAC Committee considers Kampala as a natural choice for hosting EAIAC 2016. The conference agenda will include drafting of contract arbitration clauses, understanding the anatomy of international arbitration, ICSID and investment arbitration, and New York Convention and enforcement of awards.

This conference will build on the success of the previous conferences held in Addis Ababa (2013), Nairobi (2014) and Dar Es Salaam (2015). We have had over 200 delegates from East Africa and beyond. Previous Speakers included; Attorney Generals, Cabinet Ministers, Presidents of Law Societies, regional and international law firms, and regional arbitration centres, including Mauritius International Arbitration Centre (MIAC), Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration (NCIA) and Kigali International Arbitration Centre (KIAC).

Why should you attend EAIAC 2016?

EAIAC 2016 is the best platform to network and share experiences with arbitration practitioners, government and private sectore in East Africa and beyond. And best of all, the Law Societies of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda have accredited the conference with high CLE/CPD points that their members can claim after the conference.
