MultiChoice Tanzania removes free-to-air channels from DStv

TCRA had threatened to suspend Multichoice Tanzania's and Simbanet's licences for transmitting free-to-air television channels contrary to governing laws and regulations. It accused the two of failing to abide by licence conditions, despite several warnings to not broadcast FTA channels as part of their subscription services. Minister for Works, Transport and Communications, Isack Kamwelwe said on 11 August that DStv owner Multichoice Tanzania, Simbanet (Zuku) and Azam Media were not allowed beam FTA channels as they are not part of their services for subscription channels.
