As Africa embarks on finalizing the largest Free Trade Area in the world, it is only a matter of time before the numbers of intra-Africa trade grow exponentially. The growth of investment and trade flowing into the continent in the form or Foreign Direct Investment in the past decade has brought to light some challenges particularly in relation the rights and duties of investors and host states.
With negotiations for the Investment Protocol of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement taking shape, it is timely to raise questions about the protection of investments and investor-state dispute settlement.
In collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry of the Republic of South Africa, I-Arb Africa is excited to present the 3rd Annual Southern African International Arbitration Conference on the AfCFTA and the future of Investor-State in Africa.
As in its previous years, the conference will bring together practitioners from the region and beyond, counsel from public and private sector, academicians and arbitrators.
